Amber beer with gruyt, alc. 7% vol.

Festus, celebration in Latin, gave in Old French the word feste and its derivatives: to feast, feast, festivities... This festive beer combines the malty flavors of the best western cereals and the refinement of spices brought back from the Orient after the Crusades. This secret blend of spices that brewers added to beer was called gruyt in Flanders.

This beer has a pretty dark amber color under a rather generous beige foam. Its aromas are reminiscent of speculoos with a little note of biscuit and dried fruit. On the palate, roundness predominates on a well-malted base and this cleverly dosed blend of spices which persists over the length. The finish adds a spicy freshness and a very light bitterness.

Serve at cellar temperature: 12 to 13°C.
For tasting, but also at the table: cooking Flemish carbonade, accompaniment to roast chicken or steak.
Cheeses: Lou Pérail, Saint-Nectaire, Gouda with cumin.
Desserts: thin apple tartlet, pear ice cream.
