Our merkén combines three ingredients: smoked chili, coriander, and salt. Its success lies in the balance between the oak-smoky notes of the chili and the sunny, lemony notes of the roasted coriander.
To create this blend, all the spices were ground together to harmonize the aromas.
Merkén originates from the cuisine of the Mapuche, an indigenous community living in Chile and Argentina. It is one of the basic ingredients in the traditional popular cuisine of the Mapuche region and is also widely used in neighboring countries. It has even recently entered the realm of haute cuisine worldwide.
There is a version without coriander, called natural merkén , and another with coriander, called merkén especial .
