PRECAUTIONS FOR USING CANDLES
A candle that lasts is a candle that's cared for. Discover Charlotte's tips for taking care of your candle.
BEFORE YOU LIGHT YOUR CANDLE
Make sure your candle is on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
If necessary, trim the wick. It should measure between 0.7 mm and 1 cm. If the wick is too long, carbon can accumulate at the end and cause black smoke.
If your candle has two wicks, it is important to light both in order to obtain an even burn.
DURING THE BURNING
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Do not move the candle while it is burning.
For optimal combustion, allow the candle to burn completely to the edge of the container.
The entire surface must become liquid to prevent the candle from tunneling afterwards.
Do not place the candle near a window, the wick could flicker and impair combustion.
If the wick bends and falls into the wax, extinguish the candle and lift the wick. Once it has solidified, trim the wick to the correct length.
Do not let your candle burn for more than 4 hours for large sizes and more than 3 hours for small sizes in order not to alter the wax and the fragrance.
Never let your candle burn completely in the container; always leave 1 cm of wax. This will prevent the glass and your candle holder from overheating.
EXTINCTION
To extinguish your candle, the best solution is to quickly dip the wick into the hot wax using a tool and then pull it out. The wick will then be coated with wax, making it easier to relight.
If you do not have an accessory, gently blow on the wick to avoid hot wax splashes.
AFTER THE EXTINCTION
Do not move your candle while the wax is hot and liquid.
